The Advisory Olympics is coming!! Get prepared for the biggest Advisory event of the year. Starting in the next month West Middle will hold the Advisory Olympics, a fun event involving all the Advisories fighting for the title as the Winner. Last year Ghana took it all and became the Winner after a heated game of Hungry, Hungry Hippos. Well that happen again? Good Luck to all the Advisories and keep an eye out for following announcements.
West Winter Wonderland was a big hit! We'd like to say thanks to all of the people who donated, and to all of the people who showed up to the event. We also can't forget about the Magnificent Popa who sacrificed his lovely mane to help us with the fundraiser. Again THANK YOU!!!!
The months of November and December we did the Olympic Trials! They are a non-competitive version of our past Advisory Olympics. We're glad that the Olympic Trials turned out so great and we had a lot of support from the student body and the staff at West. Advisory Olympics are coming soon so stay tuned.
So far the Peer Ambassadors have been kept busy by all of the tasks we set out to complete at the beginning of the school year. Our adventures have taken us to Hardin Middle School in St. Charles to learn about their teen court program and the Boone County Courthouse in downtown Columbia to examine the juvenile court process. At West, the Peer Ambassadors received the opportunity to plan a few pep assembly and the fall social, do the school's recycling, raise and lower the flag, and a handful of students even took part in presenting to an adult sorority about teen court. We also have recently finished Battle of The Bands which was a lip syncing/ air band contest. It was a very successful so thanks to everyone who participated, all the teachers who helped provide support, and all the judges (Bangladesh) who helped us out. BIG THANK YOU TO MRS.RICE WHO IS ALWAYS HELPING US OUT WITH EVERYTHING. THANK YOU!
In class, we have regularly had guest speakers visit us to talk to us about various different topics including our districts PTSA, planning events around West, and learning about different leadership qualities. We often visit with Dr. Dewey to talk about suggestions generated from among the group. Speaking of leadership qualities, the Peer Ambassadors have been reading out of Sean Covey's best selling book, The Seven Habits Of Highly Effective Teens. It helps us improve our skills as leaders in West's student body.
Peer Ambassadors is excited to serve the school community for it's second year in a row. We can't wait for another awesome event at West Middle School! West is best!
